Wabash, Indiana - There's Something for everyone

Wabash, a rural, midwestern city on the banks of the Wabash River, found itself in the spotlight in 1880. On the night of March 31, the community and its many visitors witnessed a spectacle that elicited both shock and amazement. That cold night, Wabash became the first electrically lighted city in the world. Four arc lights positioned on top of the courthouse illuminated the entire town. Wabash proved then that it is unafraid to embrace innovation. That spirit lives on today in a community dedicated to art, historic preservation, and economic development.
